Revision is a connected 3D printed document workspace where you work faster and better.

Holonome is a 3D printer management platform that provides useful features such as machine status, project management and real-time data sharing.ย 

Revision is the next generation of Holonome documentation tool for the 3D printing industry. It is simple, strong and communicates more effectively. It allows users to document and track their 3D printing progress, and also collaborate with their team with the comment and file sharing feature to find the best solution for their project together.

As part of designing the revision, I was responsible for improving 3D printing processes and products by storing and sharing high-quality data and experiences on the web.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Engineers have a low 3D printing success rate and it takes a long time to successfully print high-quality objects.
Engineers print high-quality objects through continuous testing using various variables such as temperature, humidity, print speed and materials. However, even for experienced engineers, it is difficult to produce high-quality objects successfully in a short time using these various variables.

BREAKDOWN OF THE PROBLEM

๐Ÿ“˜ Guide books will not help you solve the problem.

Experience is more important than books. Too general and basic information is not enough to solve various problems. They develop problem-solving skills through continuous testing.

๐Ÿ‘ป Low ability to prevent various problems.

The problems are so diverse. Unexpected problems always arise during printing, and even the most experienced engineers take time to solve them.

๐Ÿ•“ Long print time

It usually takes 8 to 12 hours to print one object, and even if you stop in the middle due to fail, it always takes 3 to 4 hours. So if there are a lot of tests, it takes a lot of time.

You are the only one who can solve this problem. And it becomes a powerful weapon for you to work with here. They are afraid of losing their jobs.

Most of our users are those who know how to control complex machines and 3D software in industrial industries. They go back and forth between 3d software and a 3d print machine, modifying files and controlling machines to get the best results.

Engineers start learning from experience that there is no one right way to do 3D printing.Throughout the journey, we guide users on how to fail and learn and share from them. We also provide an environment for them to discuss and resolve their problems.Our Key strategy is for engineers to constantly test and share with team members without fear of failure and produce better results.

DESIGN EXPLORATION

We gather the necessary functions and use a layout optimized for the function to provide the best product for users.

Users can upload photos, videos, and links to deliver information effectively, and differ the size, colour and position to create a hierarchy of importance and create a natural path for the viewer's eye.

It's better and faster where work is done and experiences are shared.

Revision is one of the three main features of Holonom web. As part of designing the new feature, I was responsible for improving 3D printing processes and products by storing and sharing high-quality data and experiences on the web. The new user experience was able to accumulate valuable data and received feedback from users that the working environment was 2 to 3 times better.

Magic Toolbox

USER STORY
Engineers can quickly and easily create documents to efficiently share print information and files with team members and clients.
SOLUTION
We provide users with an intuitive toolkit. It introduced a logical grouping of similar and dependent controls, a clearer workflow for a better documentation experience.

Color of status

USER STORY
Engineers can quickly see project progress and print results by glancing at the screen. This allows engineers to easily find successful files without having to go through all the documents one by one.
SOLUTION
We help engineers communicate print quality using colour. Engineers select the print quality through the drop box in the document and it is displayed in the document list. Each color indicates print quality. Green means satisfied, yellow means dissatisfied, and red means unsuccessful. So, other users can see this and immediately understand the printing situation.

Media upload

USER STORY
Engineers want to share images or videos obtained through the printer with their team members. This is because new printing methods and problems that are difficult to explain in writing can be explained to the team in detail.ย 
SOLUTION
Engineers can upload videos or photos through Magic Toolbox. Sometimes a photo or video is better to convey the print situation more accurately to the reader than text. In particular, the video recorded during the printing process can be the key to solving problems during the printing process.

File sharing

USER STORY
Print files contain a variety of information, including temperature, speed, and print structure. Therefore this helps engineers understand the printing process. Many team members check and reuse 3D print settings from existing files when starting similar projects because it can shorten users' project time and improve print quality.
SOLUTION
Engineers can save gcode and stl files through the magic toolbox. Additionally, engineers can download the saved file from revisions and check the printing settings in the 3D printing tool.

Direct and productive communication

When a printer job is completed or a problem occurs, the engineers share the results and process with team members for discussion.ย

The engineers wonder whether the method their suggestions were helpful. They also want toget credit for it if it helps and they hope other people will know about it.
SOLUTION
We publicly show whose suggestions help the problem. Therefore, we appreciate our users' contribution and encourage them to post more.

Contextual primary text options

Users effectively and easily convey printed information to their readers by using headings of different sizes and different presentations such as plain text, bold, and links.ย 
SOLUTION
Text options give users more freedom to express their documents. Users can freely express the document more concisely and effectively through the text option, which brings pleasure to the reader.ย 

RESULT

We tested it with our internal team and got a lot of feedback.
As a result, overall we were able to successfully complete the project with good reviews from them.
